Sensitive Profile Patients

What is a sensitive profile?

Patients who use high-prescription contact lenses or glasses, or who are over 40 and have difficulty seeing when reading, fall outside standard profiles and are assessed within the Sensitive Profile Patient Programme.

Definitions of high-prescription contact lenses or glasses:
Myopia with an absolute prescription of 6 dioptres or more, for example −6.00 D or higher myopia.
Hyperopia of +4.00 dioptres or more.
Astigmatism of −/+4 or higher.

You will be assessed for the Sensitive Profile Patient Programme. Patients over 40 with presbyopia affecting near vision, keratoconus or high-prescription myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism are also treated within this programme.

Benefits of the Sensitive Profile Patient Programme

Admission to the Sensitive Profile Patient Programme does not mean that laser surgery will be performed. Treatment is selected by assessing corneal measurements, eye health and individual visual needs together. Laser treatment, intraocular lenses or other options are discussed with suitable patients; surgery may be postponed or not recommended for some patients. Follow-up duration and the need for any additional procedure are determined individually. Suitability for an additional procedure is assessed through a new examination and measurements. The scope of the programme and its fees are explained separately to the patient before treatment.
